John Festival
President and CEO

John Festival graduated from the University of Saskatchewan in 1984 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering. He has 30 years of business and management experience in heavy oil. John was President, CEO and a director of BlackPearl Resources Inc., a Canadian based heavy oil and SAGD operator, prior to the merger with International Petroleum in December, 2018. He was previously the President of Alberta-based heavy oil company BlackRock Ventures Inc., that was sold to Shell Canada for $2.4 billion in 2006.

Don Cook
VP Finance and CFO

Don Cook, CPA, CA, CFA is Vice President Finance and Chief Financial Officer. Don graduated with a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Calgary. He has 30 years of business and management experience most recently as CFO of BlackPearl Resources Inc. and before that as CFO of BlackRock Ventures Inc.  Both BlackPearl and BlackRock were successful publicly listed heavy oil companies in western Canada.

CRAIG McCLELLAND
Vice President Land

Craig began his career in the oil & gas business with Petro-Canada in 1989. Craig held a variety of land responsibilities, including negotiations, exploration, development, optimization and A&D in Saskatchewan, Alberta and British Columbia during his 10 years at Petro-Canada.

Craig joined Breaker Energy Ltd. in 2004 as Vice President, Land. As Vice President, Land, Craig was responsible for all land related functions within the organization in building the company from start-up to over 7,000 BOE/d, over 95% operated and over 400,000 acres of high working interest undeveloped land.

Craig holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Calgary and a P. Land designation from the Canadian Association of Petroleum Landmen (CAPL).

DAN POLLEY
Independent Director

Dan holds a Bachelor of Science (Honors) degree in Applied Science (Geological Engineering) from Queen’s University in Kingston, Ontario. Dan began his oil and gas career as an exploration geologist at Alberta Energy Company (AEC), now EnCana. As founding President of Broadview Energy, Dan was integral to the prospect generation and our strategic success in what has been a very difficult business environment.

ROBERT CHAISSON
Independent Director

Bob Chaisson is a founder and the Chief Executive Officer of Karve Energy Inc. and is currently a Director of Saguaro Resources Ltd. and Burgess Creek Exploration Inc. He was the founder, President, Chief Executive Officer and a Director of Beaumont Energy Inc. from December 2012 until May 2015, when it was sold for $517MM. Prior thereto, he was the founder, Director, President and Chief Executive Officer of Cutpick Energy Inc. from July 2009 until June 2012, when it was sold for $425MM.

GREG BAY
Independent Director

Greg is the founding partner of Cypress Capital Management and has 38 years of experience in private equity finance.  Greg began his career in 1980 with Rhodes Denton as a private placements analyst and went on to work as an account executive with Nesbitt Thomson for two years. Greg then moved to Royal Trust for four years where he worked as a portfolio manager. Following that, he spent four years as the Assistant Vice President of Investments at National Trust. From 1992 to 1998, Greg was a managing partner at M.K. Wong & Associates (now HSBC Asset Management Canada Ltd.) where he specialized in private client and institutional portfolio management. At M.K. Wong, Greg was the lead portfolio manager on the Lotus Canadian Equity Fund and the Hong Kong Bank Small Cap Growth funds. 

TREVOR WONG-CHOR

Trevor Wong-Chor is a solicitor with the global law firm DLA Piper (Canada) LLP (and its predecessor firm since 2004) where he is currently a partner. Prior thereto, Trevor was a partner and an associate at the law firm Borden Ladner Gervais LLP (and its predecessor firms) (1998-2004). His practice involves advising a broad range of clients on matters relating to capital markets, mergers and acquisitions and governance. Trevor obtained his LL.B. from the University of Calgary in 1997 and his Bachelor of Arts from the University of Victoria in 1992. Mr. Wong-Chor is a member of the Law Society of Alberta.
